Information to users at Segerstedt regarding data migration
The department for University IT Services is in the process of migrating data from the current storage solution, called Fabric or Central client management, to a central system for personal folders called MyStorage. This is a reliable and scalable storage solution also known as Argos. The work of moving files and folders runs at different stages on various campus areas over a longer period of time.
Purpose and goal
There are several reasons for the need to change storage solution. The current storage solution is obsolete and guarantees as well as support from suppliers have or will soon expire.
The goal is to supply centrally managed personal folders for all full time employees at the University. This will result in better and safer storage for users, as well as a more effective management and support from University IT Services.
The project group is responsible for making sure that all employees' files are moved to the new, central storage solution (Argos) in a secure and effective way.
Users ability to work will be impacted as little as possible during file transfer.
The current situation and restrictions associated with Covid-19 will also be taken into account during the work. The current situation with Covid-19 will also be taken into account and precautions will be taken when necessary.

How does my Personal folder work and how will I be affected?
The biggest difference will be for those of you who have previously worked with synchronized windows folders (Workfolders). After the data transfer you NEED to save your documents in folders under Filr/MyFiles in order to store them safe with back up. Files located on the Desktop or in one of the windows folders Documents, Pictures, Movies, Music etc. are only located locally on your computer and are not backed up!
