The Staff Portal is to be a consolidated gateway for staff services and information and should help ensure uniformity and a perception of a unified Uppsala University.
The sub-project can be summarised by three overall objectives:
- Technology to be replaced
- To make it easier for visitors to find and access relevant information
- Simplified editorial work
Technology to be replaced
The sub-project essentially involves replacing the technology behind the Staff Portal. The new system is called Sitevision and has already been implemented for the new student gateway (2021). It will be implemented for the external website as part of sub-project 3 (2023), which will provide a range of coordination benefits from both an editorial and an administrative perspective. The group and unit spaces will be replaced in some areas by Sharepoint as part of the Collaboration workspaces – a replacement for group spaces in the Staff Portal, in close collaboration with sub-project 2 of the web project.
- Liferay will be replaced by Sitevision
- The unit and group spaces will be replaced
Easier for visitors to find relevant information
An important objective of the new Staff Portal is for it work more efficiently for visitors:
- Target group-customised views
- Clearer structure and adapted content
- Better search function
Simplified editorial work
Sitevision is a modern CMS that will simplify editorial work on the Staff Portal and render it more efficient.

The project starts with an assessment and planning phase
Starting in spring 2022, we will conduct a range of different assessments to pinpoint the needs of Staff Portal users and editors. We will conduct an impact assessment together with an external consultant. Surveys and in-depth interviews will also be conducted.

Timetable for the project
- January – June 2022: Needs assessments and planning
- March 2022 – September 2023: Functionality development
- June – December 2022: Content processing before migration
- March – April 2023: Training for editors
- March – May 2023: Migration of content to new Staff Portal
- June 2023: Launch of new Staff Portal in beta version:
- September 2023: Transition to new Staff Portal
