Background
The website is the heart of Uppsala University’s online presence and must live up to the expectations that students, staff and other stakeholders are entitled to have of a modern, world-leading university. The technical platform must support strategic digitalisation and offer the possibility of developing both user-focused online services and content for effective channels of communication and information.
Development of the University’s web platform is one of the prioritised strategic projects in the University Administration’s Operational Plan for 2018–2020 (UFV 2017/83).
Phase 1: Feasibility study. The University Director issued instructions to the Director of Communications in June 2017 to carry out a feasibility study as phase 1. The feasibility study was carried out in autumn 2017 and was presented to the University Director in February 2018: “Effective and efficient web solution for Uppsala University” (UFV 2017/1229).
Phase 2: Procurement preparation phase. A request for information (RFI) in December 2018 drew responses from ten platform suppliers. Supplier demonstrations were conducted during spring 2019.
Phase 3. Work on the requirements specification and procurement started in spring 2019 and continued in autumn 2019 and 2020.
Phase 4: Implementation and integration.
Integration with other systems and introduction in the organisation depends on the procurement phase and its outcome and no specific dates can be given at present.
