“What a tremendous response!”

That’s our unanimous reaction in the Staff Portal editorial team, seeing the list of book recommendations that have come in before the start of the Christmas season. There are books to suit all tastes: a list of 54 titles of recommended books in Swedish or English. Recommendations that are sure to last for the whole of the Christmas and New Year holidays, and all the way to Easter.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that so many members of staff at the University are keen readers, and it feels encouraging that they do find time to immerse themselves now and then in a work of fiction.

Here is the complete list of recommended titles, in a mix of Swedish and English.

Faced with so many recommendations, the editorial team felt compelled to draw lots for three prizes, instead of the one we announced from the start. Under the watchful eye of the whole editorial team, the following random winners were selected to each receive a Christmas gift – a beautiful tray from the University’s webshop.

The winners are:

  • Lovisa Svensson, Office for Science and Technology: Jag ser allt du gör by Annika Norlin
  • Anne-Marie Körling, Department of Education: Ålevangeliet (The Gospel of the Eels) by Patrik Svensson
  • Simon Carter, Department of Pharmacy: The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson

The editorial team sends our warm thanks for all these excellent recommendations and wishes readers a very Happy Christmas with lots of book parcels under the tree.
