Prolongation
Reasons for study breaks and thus the right to an extension of the study period within the doctoral programme are regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 8, Section 8. Furthermore, guidelines for assessing the scope of certain positions of trust within the university are set out in Guidelines for extention UFV 2021/2081. These guidelines are supplemented below with regard to the Faculty of Educational Sciences.
In general, reasons for extensions that occur with reference to circumstances that arise during the employment as a doctoral student shall lead to an extension of employment as a doctoral student.
The doctoral student can only receive an extension for assignments held during the time as a funded doctoral student.
The total prolongation for an individual doctoral student due to student union work should normally not exceed 20% of full-time or 50 days per year.
