When choosing which candidates to take forward, the Recruitment Committee has proceeded on the basis of the person specification approved by the University Board. The Committee has also taken account of requests from within the University and from the proposed new Vice-Chancellor that the Deputy Vice-Chancellor should supplement the Vice-Chancellor’s profile in terms of field and should preferably be a woman.

All those who have been called to interview are professors at Uppsala University and meet these requirements. The interviews will take place during the first half of September.

After the interviews, the Recruitment Committee, following the University’s new Rules of Procedure, will consult the proposed Vice-Chancellor about which candidates to propose for a hearing with the University’s Electoral College. Similar consultations will then be held with the University Board on 30 September and the names of the remaining candidates will then be made public.

On 13 October, the Electoral College will hold its hearing, which the members of the University Board are entitled to attend. The Electoral College will then meet on 21 October and will propose a Deputy Vice-Chancellor to the Recruitment Committee, which in turn will decide on a proposal to submit to the University Board. The University Board will take its decision at a meeting on 12 November.
