The award is made by Österreichischer Auslandsdienst (the Austrian Service Abroad). This is a non-profit organisation that enables young Austrians to perform voluntary service abroad and is recognised by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection.

Tomislav Dulić was central in establishing the collaboration between the Hugo Valentin Centre and Österreichischer Auslandsdienst, which has resulted in a number of young Austrians doing their one-year service at the centre in Uppsala, contributing to exchange between the countries, and disseminating knowledge about the work of the Hugo Valentin Centre. One of the main focuses is research and teaching about the Holocaust and genocide.

The award will be conferred on Thursday 11 April at the Austrian Embassy in Stockholm.
