The Division for University IT Services (UIT) has participated in drawing up a new agreement between the supplier of the EduPrint services and the universities that use the printing system. The agreement is shared between Uppsala University, Gävle University, Karolinska Institutet, Linköping University, Malmö University, Mittuniversitetet, Mälardalen University and Örebro University.

In the new agreement, the number of printers included within the basic service has dropped. This means that the provider will begin to charge for printers that fall outside the scope of the agreement.

For Uppsala University, this means that UIT needs to review and–in cooperation with departments and campus management–reduce the number of printers in all areas. In practice, it is necessary to identify which printers are used most sparingly and remove them (roughly 20 of the approx. 370 printers located on university premises). In cases where a specific department or equivalent wants to keep a printer that falls outside the basic equipment, they will be charged a rental cost of SEK 430 per month and printer.

The new agreement applies retroactively from June 1st, 2022. Therefore, UIT are contacting those concerned immediately following the New Year. Additional printer charges will apply from January 31 2023, in order to give everyone time to adjust their printer needs. Contact between relevant departments, campuses and UIT will be handled by e-administration IT coordinator Mikael Hörner.
