The Admission Regulations contain the rules Uppsala University applies regarding applications, entry requirements and selection, together with procedures for making and appealing against admission decisions. They also include rules on certain other decisions connected with admissions. The University Board has now approved the Admission Regulations.

A few questions to Cecilia Marklund, head of the Student Registry Unit at the University Administration, who has coordinated the process of revision.

Why have the Admission Regulations been revised?

"The last overall revision took place about ten years ago, so it was time for a comprehensive review. Legislation and regulations in the area have changed, after all, and so has higher education at the University and nationally."

What would you say is new?

"The text has been completely reorganised, which we hope will bring it more into line with applicants’ needs and make it easier to find information. We have also added some praxis, which we think will help to clarify the rules both for applicants and for University staff."

"We have modernised both the structure and the language in the revised Admission Regulations."

Anything that has caused debate?

"Yes, for example, the students would have liked the Medicine Programme not to use the Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test as a tie-breaker when applicants are equally qualified – but it didn’t end up that way."
