Application for incoming staff from outside of EU - ICM

Teacher and staff exchange to UU from outside EU

Erasmus+ is the European Union’s programme for education, training, youth and sport. Within Erasmus+ there is a part called Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM). This allows for teachers and staff to come to Uppsala University on an exchange.

The Division for Internationalisation at Uppsala University (UU) applies for new grants each year, so the list of Erasmus+ partner universities outside EU may change. The information is updated in August, December and March.

General information

  • Teacher and staff exchanges to Uppsala University are usually 7 days and 2 travel days. Below you find a list of universities and the number of days.
  • The grants are EUR 180 per day in Sweden (after 14 days the grant amount changes to 126 EUR/day) plus travel days. The grant will be paid to the grantee upon arrival to Uppsala University.
  • You book and pay your ticket to Sweden. Upon arrival in Uppsala you will receive a travel grant, please see below. Please contact erasmus@uu.se if any questions arrise.
  • All grantees will be insured by Kammarkollegiets GIF-försäkring during the mobility period.
  • In the selection process we will prioritize applications with invitation letters from UU.

All visits have to take place by June 30, 2021, June 30, 2022 or June 30 2023. See exact deadlines in the list of available grants below. Please contact erasmus@uu.se if you have any questions.

Staff mobility for teaching (STA)

Teaching at a partner university, a so called Staff mobility for Teaching (STA), means that a teacher teaches at Uppsala University at least 8 hours/week. Activities that may count as teaching include all types of teaching of students where the teacher is physically present at the host university, e.g. seminars, lectures and tutoring. The goal for the teacher is to have a chance to develop professionally and personally, to strengthen contacts between the partner universities, and to spread knowledge to the host and home university.

Staff mobility for training (STT)

Employees at partners to Uppsala University may receive the grant to improve their skills and develop their work by going to Uppsala University to do ”job shadowing”, working next to colleagues that have similar work tasks. PhD students may also go on staff training, if the activity is connected to the PhD student´s possible future career or current work at the home university. The staff training should be full time.

International Staff week

During the week staff from our Erasmus+ ICM partners will have an opportunity to learn more about internationalisation, research, education and student engagement at Uppsala University. Please note that you are expected to participate in the full week. A sum covering lunches will be deducted from your grant. To apply for the staff week please indicate yes under “I would like to participate in the International Staff Week” in the application form.

Next International Staff Week will take place in May 2023.

Uppsala University will send necessary documents for visa applications and such. You will book your own flight ticket and your own accommodation in Uppsala.

After your stay att Uppsala University

  1. You complete the exchange at Uppsala University. Make sure to get the “Confirmation Form” signed while you are there. Download Confirmation Form here.
  2. Within one month of your return, send the "Confirmation Form" to erasmus@uu.se. Shortly after your return you will receive an automatic e-mail with a link to the survey; ”Erasmus Participant Report”, that you should submit.

COVID-19

Erasmus grant applications will not be approved as long as there’s a valid decision by the Vice-Chancellor hindering international staff mobility and/or the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, MFA, is advising against international travels due to the spread of the COVID-19 at the planned start date for the mobility. And if there is an advise against travel to a specific country/specific countries due to COVID-19 no Erasmus grants might not be approved to those countries. All grant approvals are therefore conditional.

Due to COVID-19 staff members applying for an Erasmus staff mobility grant are recommended to:
- To follow the development via government websites.
- To be flexible while planning the staff mobility, especially in regards to start date
- To notify the Division for Internationalisation of any potential changes:
