Courses and programmes
In the Univeristy's courses and programmes catalogue, we market and present the courses and programmes at Bachelor's and Master's level offered by the University. Work on the catalogue is ongoing throughout the year, and is divided into different steps based on when the programme pages need to be published on sites such as universityadmissions.se and antagning.se.
First- and second-cycle courses and programmes are divided into academic years and semesters. Each academic year includes autumn and spring semesters, and each semester consists of twenty weeks. During the period between the spring and autumn semesters, summer courses can be offered. See semester dates.
The faculty boards decide which courses and programmes are to be included in the catalogue for the academic year. All courses and programmes at Uppsala University are established by the head of the Student Affairs and Academic Registry Division, on delegation by the Vice-Chancellor.
The course descriptions and programme information is entered into the database "Selma". The information from Selma is then published in the University's course and programme catalogue. Courses for exchange students are published in a separate catalogue. The information is also displayed on other websites, such as universityadmissions.se and course information is transferred to the virtual learning environment Studium.
Deciding and reporting which courses will be open as free-standing courses, open for exchange students, and which programmes will be given, is done far in advance of the coming academic year. Courses applied within a programme are decided each semester.
