Short presentation
My name is Loretto Villalobos and I am a PhD student in ethnology.
Research
My thesis is about how the memory of the Chilean dictatorship 1973-1990, and and the exile that came from it, is represented and constructed in the life story narratives of Chilean exiles/returnees that were children during that time. One central topic is how the collective memory of that historical event is adopted as a vernacular repertoir in these individual life story narratives. The study is based on interviews and ethnographic fieldwork in Chile during three periods in 2012-2014.
