SACO’s virtual autumn fair attracts 29,000 visitors
This year it was impossible to gather thousands of people in an exhibition hall, so the Swedish Confederation of Professional Associations (SACO) switched to a completely online education fair that ran from 24 to 27 November and attracted over 29,000 visitors.

Eva Tiensuu Jansson was recently named integration director for SciLifeLab UU, one of four integration directors who will manage issues at SciLifeLab.
International student mental health project
The prevention of mental illness among students is the long-term objective of a global research project, the Swedish leg of which is led by Uppsala University in collaboration with other Swedish higher education institutions. In the coming days, a questionnaire on mental illness will be distributed to students in the first semester of first-cycle programmes at Uppsala University.

In view of the new government decision further tightening COVID-19 restrictions, the Vice-Chancellor decided today to tighten the application of the University’s guidelines during the period 24 November 2020 –17 January 2021.
More than SEK one million to develop digitised teaching
Six new projects at the University have been awarded project funds for the educational development of digitised teaching. These projects have received a total of SEK 1,047,660 in funding.
Government decision on new Vice-Chancellor of Uppsala University
The Swedish Government decided today to appoint Anders Hagfeldt as Vice-Chancellor of Uppsala University. Anders Hagfeldt will take up his post on 1 January 2021.

Great interest in Grants Days
This year’s Grants Days were spread over three days and were conducted via Zoom with around 450 registered participants. All the presentations have been collected and are available to anyone who would like to access the information presented during the event.
Transfer of personal data to third countries
The judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) has invalidated the regulatory framework that previously made it possible to transfer personal data to the United States under the Privacy Shield. Consequently, research and teaching staff at Uppsala University must identify transfers based on the Privacy Shield and stop them immediately.
Decision on funding for equal opportunities projects
On 17 November, the Vice-Chancellor approved funding for five projects in the area of equal opportunities.
Vice-Chancellor expected to issue new COVID-19 decision after government announcement today
Today Prime Minister Stefan Löfvén announced that the government is proposing to introduce new restrictions because of the infection situation. Under the proposal, no more than eight people will be allowed to gather at any public meeting or event, as against 50 at present.

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Uppsala University has increased slightly compared with last week: 247 people have been confirmed infected since the start of the semester.
