The government and the Public Health Agency (FHM) present ongoing information on restrictions and recommendations to minimise the spread of Covid-19, and this remains something we need to relate to. The management of Uppsala University continuously publishes up-to-date information on the Staff Portal (MP). I am aware that the situation with the pandemic remains difficult and means additional work for all of us.

The management of the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy would also like to extend a big thank you to all the departments involved with the decommissioning of the Department of Neuroscience. A plan is under preparation for how the management and the faculty office best can continue to support both receiving departments and heads of department as well as the staff who move. I am convinced that, together, we can create good working environments that will promote research and education in a good way.

With the Vesta server system, we can now correctly handle sensitive personal data, following the standards required by the GDPR and the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY). Vesta is a vital complement to the Bianca calculation resource at SNIC-SENS, a national research infrastructure for high-performance computing of sensitive personal data. Instead of complicated technical constraints, Vesta applies "freedom with responsibility" to ensure that the barrier for using it is sufficiently low for the average user with moderately large calculation requirements.

I hope that you, like me, are full of expectations and look forward to an eventful spring term.

Mats Larhed
Vice-Rector of the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy
