A gas cylinder containing a corrosive gas sprang a leak at lunchtime today at the Ångström Laboratory.
Building 4 was evacuated following a leak on the basement floor. Nobody is reported to have come to harm.
“As yet, we don’t know what caused the gas leak, but the situation is under control, with the emergency services leading the response in collaboration with staff from the Ångström Laboratory and Akademiska Hus,” says Fredrik Blomqvist, Chief Security Officer at Uppsala University.
At 3 pm the emergency services returned the responsibility for the building to Akademiska hus and Uppsala University, and staff was able to resume work.
