Uppsala–Durham Strategic Development Fund, formerly known as Uppsala-Durham Seedcorn Fund, opens to both applications for research collaborations as well as collaborations in education.

Applications from all fields are welcomed but proposals related to the following fields are encouraged: Health; Climate Change; Energy and Clean Growth; Heritage and Culture; Hazard and Risk; Data Science.

Through a competitive process, Durham and Uppsala Universities will jointly advertise, select and fund research projects to the value of € 10,000 – € 20,000.

Successful research projects are expected to result in further applications for third-party funding.

Proposed educational projects are expected to support the development of international learning and teaching at both universities.

Eligibility

  • Applicants/PI:s must be academic staff at either Durham or Uppsala Universities at any stage of their careers, and can include faculty from cooperating institutes.
  • Additional external partners can be involved, however a strong argument should be made where contribution exceeds 20 percent.
  • Applicants must have expertise in the applied projects.
