Pernilla Åsenlöf, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, has planned the visits with the directors. Caroline Björck is Director of the Centre for Clinical Research in Gävleborg, Jan Norberg is Director of the Centre for Clinical Research in Dalarna, Petri Olivius is Director of the Centre for Clinical Research in Sörmland, and Kent Nilsson is Director of the Centre for Clinical Research in Västmanland.

“The CKF visits are valuable for our common understanding. All CKFs have different conditions. It is important to be able to meet and have a dialogue on the spot. The collaboration becomes more concrete, and we get a chance to reflect and discuss future development,” says Pernilla Åsenlöf.

Each centre for clinical research is based on an agreement between the concerned region and Uppsala University. The idea is that they should form a positive and creative research environment that allows employees in the four regions to undergo postgraduate training and continue with research after their doctorate. The activities are aimed at all personnel involved in clinical research and education in healthcare.

A centre for clinical research can be a workplace for PhD students and researchers and, as such, function as a gathering place for education, meetings, supervision, seminars and administration. Through the CKFs, research projects can receive support and access to Uppsala University’s infrastructure for research.

The composition of the visiting delegations from Uppsala University has varied. In addition to Mats Larhed, Vice-Rector of the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy, and Pernilla Åsenlöf, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the following delegates have been on various visits: Karin Forsberg Nilsson, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Anders Backlund, Vice-Dean for Research Training, Jan Eriksson, member of the Research Training Committee, Fotis Papadopoulos, Deputy Director at the Centre for Clinical Research in Sörmland and Lisa Ekselius, Chair of the Centre Council at the Centre for Clinical Research in Västmanland.
