The Language Workshop is a university-wide resource hosted by the Department of Scandinavian Languages at the Faculty of Languages. The previous mission statement from 2010 primarily focused on offering individual guidance to students and selective measures aimed at various courses and programmes.
After a recently completed review of the service, there will a new mission statement placing greater emphasis on the Language Workshop’s long-term task of developing written assignments and the academic language of students.
The Language Workshop is already required to base its development work on research and proven experience and to provide services free of charge to all students and doctoral students at the University.
The Language Workshop also supports teachers’ continuing professional development to strengthen the development of students and doctoral students’ academic language in both Swedish and English, and in developing progression in the teaching of written and oral presentation skills in the University’s courses and programmes.
