What is the Lars Salvius Association?
Every year, large numbers of pages are copied from both Swedish and foreign works at Swedish universities and higher education institutions. Compensation is paid out for this according to the so-called Reproduction Agreement for Higher Education. The money is collected and managed by Bonus Copyright Access – an economic association whose members are organisations that represent authors and publishers.
A small proportion of the compensation relates to copying from scientific journals and other especially copy-sensitive material. The compensation is jointly managed by the Swedish Authors' Association, the Swedish Publishers' Association and the Swedish Magazine Publishers' Association. The three organisations therefore decided to form the Lars Salvius Association, which has the task of allocating the compensation in the form of scholarships and project grants, as well as an annual prize.
