The European Commission has launched a new initiative with so-called missions that will meet major challenges in health, climate and the environment. The goals are ambitious, and the missions are expected to deliver tangible results by 2030. They will deliver impact by putting research and innovation into a new role, combined with new forms of governance and collaboration, as well as by engaging citizens.

The five EU missions

  • Adaptation to Climate Change
  • Cancer
  • Restore our Ocean and Waters
  • Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities
  • A Soil Deal for Europe

Open calls

In Mission: Cancer, there are now three open calls with an application deadline of 26 April:

  • Better understanding of the impact of risk factors and health determinants on the development and progression of cancer
  • Develop new methods and technologies for cancer screening and early detection
  • Develop and validate a set of quality of life and patient preference measures for cancer patients and survivors
