The citation explains the award of the Medal of Honour to Eva Åkesson as follows:
“Because as Vice-Chancellor of Uppsala University she has worked tirelessly to strengthen the status of the University as an international centre for research and education and because by means of constructive dialogue she has strengthened the relationship between Uppsala University and Uppsala Municipality.”
The other three medallists are Henrik Didner and Adam Gerge, Tuulikki Koivunen Bylund and Bertil Högberg.
In view of the coronavirus pandemic, the medallists will have to look forward to receiving their medals at a ceremony in the Hall of State at Uppsala Castle in November 2021, the infection situation permitting.
