It is now time to appoint members to the University’s Electoral College, as part of the process of recruiting a new vice-chancellor and deputy vice-chancellor. The Electoral College will serve as consultative assembly in this process, which means, among other things, that it will interview candidates and make a proposal to the recruitment committee.

If you belong to the ‘other employees’ category, you now have a chance to participate in this process by nominating suitable candidates to the Electoral College. Eleven of the total of 65 members are to be staff from the ‘other employees’ category. The members representing other employees will be appointed following a nomination procedure. One of the 11 representatives will become a member of the recruitment committee.

Other employees

As laid down in the University’s Rules of Procedure, those appointed members of the Electoral College in the category of other employees must be employed at Uppsala University and

  • must not form part of the disciplinary domain’s body of individuals with academic qualifications, and
  • must have a permanent employment contract that comprises at least 50% of a full-time role.

Nomination procedure

Nominees must have been asked and must have agreed to take on the role if appointed. To nominate a candidate, you also have to belong to the ‘other employees’ category as defined in the Rules of Procedure.
A nomination must contain reasons why the nominee is a suitable person to represent the other employees and information about the nominee’s employment and position. The nominator’s name must also be given, along with information about their position and where in the organisation they are employed.
Nominations in which any of the above information is missing or that have been submitted by a person who is not an ‘other employee’ will be disregarded.

Nominations can be made exclusively via this link: http://doit.medfarm.uu.se/kurt15013
The deadline for nominations is 8 November.

Group selecting the members

The 11 members and their 11 personal alternates will be selected by a group appointed by the University Director. The group consists of:
