The autumn has brought preparations for major organizational changes. The entire Faculty of Medicine is involved in an extensive process in which all employees at the Department of Neuroscience will move to new departments. Even though the news of the reorganization came unexpectedly for some, I am impressed with how you all have contributed to the work being able to run smoothly. It has taken many meetings and a lot of thought to get all the pieces of the puzzle in place. I hope that we will now be able to work forward to create good working environments for all employees at the new departments. From the domain leadership, we see it as important to take care of the subject of neuroscience in a good way and we will prioritize this in the spring.

The incorporation of the National Centre for knowledge on men’s violence against women (NCK) in our disciplinary domain is also progressing. The work at NCK is very important, and the hope is that the support, both from the government and from Uppsala University via our Vice-Chancellor in the form of funds for a professorship, will lead to successful further development.

Autumn is the time when researchers find out if they have received funding from our major donors. A big congratulation to all of you who have received grants! Unfortunately, many also have their applications rejected, but we want to increase the proportion that we can congratulate. Therefore, continued support is planned through workshops and mentorship, which we hope will lead to more applications that are successful.

The first semester of the 6-year medical program has soon passed, thanks to everyone who is working to get the new education in place. Much time is also spent on creating new programs both at the bachelor’s level (occupational therapy) and master’s level. Students are our future and through high quality, research-related education, we lay the foundation for it.

I want to finish by thanking all employees for the good and successful work you do. You form the basis of our successful disciplinary domain.

Wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
