Kristina Edström is professor of organic chemistry at the Department of Chemistry and leader of the Ångström Advanced Battery Centre. Among other things, she conducts research into battery materials and lithium-ion batteries for applications in areas such as electric vehicles and 3D microbatteries, as well as battery technologies using sodium-ion, lithium-sulphur, lithium and sodium oxide and organic materials and solid-state batteries based on electrolytes. She also works on measurement techniques for materials and batteries based on optical methods and neutron scattering.

Kristina Edström is highly committed to international research, including as coordinator of the European research initiative BATTERY 2030+, and has been active in building up the Swedish centre of excellence Batteries Sweden (BASE). She holds two patents and has published hundreds of articles in her field of research.
