The government has decided to follow the recommendation of the Public Health Agency of Sweden to require proof of vaccination at public gatherings and events if more than 100 people are present. This recommendation does not apply to teaching sessions or exams. Most of Uppsala University’s activities therefore do not come under the definition of a public gathering or event. This means that there is no need to impose physical distancing or check proof of vaccination in cases where more than 100 people are gathered in a lecture hall, for example.

Measures required at thesis defences

At public gatherings and events organised by the University, the organiser is responsible for ensuring physical distancing if there are more than 100 people at the event. Some examples of public gatherings in the University context are thesis defences, conferences, concerts and academic ceremonies such as doctoral degree conferment ceremonies.

Uppsala University follows the recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Sweden and is cooperating closely with regional infection control units. Keep up with the latest information on the Public Health Agency of Sweden website.
