Backed by the EU, EIT Health is Europe’s largest organisation for life science collaboration and one of the largest in the world. EIT Health operates within three pillars: entrepreneurship, education and innovation in life sciences. It is a knowledge and innovation network established by EU body the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). More than 150 parners in medical technology, pharmaceutical and health care funding bodies, research institutes and universities collaborate in EIT Health to generate innovation at the crossroads of research, education and business. To date, two projects led by Uppsala researchers have been granted support from the EIT Health Innovation Projects programme: Cecilia Persson of the Department of Engineering Sciences in 2019 and Albert Mihranyan of the Department of Engineering Sciences in 2018.

The call for proposals for innovation projects (BP2021) opens on 1 October 2019. The deadline for pre-proposals is 11 December 2019 and for full proposals 25 March 2020. It is important to emphasise that these are collaborative projects, in other words, proposals are invited from consortiums with at least two different CLCs (co-location centres), involving an academic and a non-academic EIT Health partner.
