In consultation with the Security and Safety Division and the Communications Division, University IT Services have decided to take this step to remind employees of the issue of fraud via email and SMS. The warning can either be added in a yellow box or as unformatted text. The warning will be added to emails that the University’s email system deems to be external and emanating from outside the organisation.

The warning may also be added later on to emails sent internally within the University, as some employees’ email accounts have unfortunately been ‘hijacked’ and used for attempted fraud.

“Do not click on any links or open attachments unless you recognise the sender and know the content is safe."
