MIRAI 2.0 is a cooperation between 20 Swedish and Japanese universities. MIRAI means future in Japanese The aim of the project is to develop and strengthen academic, interdisciplinary collaboration between the two countries, by letting researchers meet in seminars and workshops.
Focus on younger researchers
MIRAI 2.0 has a special focus on early career researchers and addresses scientific issues within the thematic areas of
- sustainability
- ageing
- materials Sciences
- artificial intelligence (AI)
- innovation and entrepreneurship.
The main activities of MIRAI 2.0 are the Research & Innovation weeks which annually takes place in Sweden or Japan. In addition, several digital scientific workshops and seminars are organized within the thematic focus areas, short courses for PhD’s and seed-funding to support promising collaborative initiatives.
Apply for travel grant
On November 15-18, MIRAI 2.0 will organize a Research and Innovation week in Japan. The theme of the conference is "Sharing ONE future: Integrative Knowledge and Sustainable Transformation towards a better world”.
The programme consists of activities and scientific workshops within the thematic areas of MIRAI 2.0 focused on creating new contacts and discuss joint project ideas.
The conference welcomes PhD-students and researchers on all levels.You register your interest to join the conference by applying for one of the travel grants available, there is a limit in the number of participants per university. You are encouraged to apply in both calls but can be awarded maximum one grant:
- Travel grants from Intsam (the coordination function of the Swedish research funders), apply by 1 September 2022
- Travel Grants from Uppsala University, apply by 15 September 2022.
Upcoming call for seed funds
A call for seed funding for promising collaborative projects will open on 1 September 2022, with a planned deadline of 1 December 2022 and implementation of the projects in 2023.
