After the first groups of cases in the medicine and law programmes, the cases of infection have been evenly distributed across the University’s programmes and courses. When a case occurs, the infection control unit at the regional health authority in Uppsala/Gotland makes an assessment. The routine procedure – after contct with the authority in Uppsala/Gotland, is to switch to online teaching for two weeks.

The University consults daily with the infection control unit in Region Uppsala and several times a week in Region Gotland. The infection control unit has made it clear that the campus and teaching situations are not the primary drivers of infection. Most people are infected outside the University, in crowded settings such as cafés, after work gatherings and private parties.

The situation in Region Uppsala is serious, with increasing numbers of people infected and severely ill. There is therefore every reason to recall the restrictions laid down by the Public Health Agency of Sweden: stay at home if you are sick, keep your distance, wash your hands, work from home if possible (consult your manager), avoid public transport if possible.
