Dealing with harassment and sexual harassment
In view of the recent and continuing public protests against sexual harassment, the University here draws attention to the applicable guidelines at the University.
Any cases of harassment that arise, including sexual harassment, are dealt with in accordance with the University’s guidelines: “Guidelines for Dealing with Cases of Harassment under the Discrimination Act” (UFV 2011/724).
The guidelines apply to cases that have arisen involving anyone participating in or applying to the University’s activities, in other words, students, students on placements, employees, temporary workers and individuals enquiring about or applying for employment, a placement or education at the University.
Under the University’s guidelines, anyone who has experienced harassment or sexual harassment should, in the first instance, inform the head of department/manager/leader who is responsible for the area of activity and, in the second place, that person’s manager or the Vice-Chancellor directly, if preferred.
The head of department/manager/leader must immediately initiate an investigation of the circumstances and take any necessary measures to prevent harassment and sexual harassment in their area of responsibility. The Human Resources Division will support them in this.
The Human Resources Division also offers training courses on how to deal with individual cases that have arisen and on positive action based on the Discrimination Act.
