Studio Blåsenhus
A recording studio that will become a new resource for teaching and research is to be built at Campus Blåsenhus. The project is being managed within the e-area Teaching and the studio is expected to open in October 2022.
Aim
The goal of the studio is to contribute to increased use of video and audio recording in teaching and research communication, as well as to have a model that can be used when a new studio is set up in other campus areas.
Background
The need for increased support for both recordings and live broadcasting of lectures, Zoom meetings and podcasts has been identified at Uppsala University. A proposal was made to set up a studio where teachers can receive technical and pedagogical support before, during and after a recording or a live stream. This studio can then be used by facility managers as a starting point when they want to set up one or more studios on their campus. The proposal was presented to the IT committee on 15 February 2021 and received unanimous support. The vice chancellor decided to endorse the proposal and finance the Studio Project with SEK 2,060,000 in 2021 and SEK 1,875,000 in 2022 (UFV 2020/2414).
The studio will be located near the Experimental classroom at Blåsenhus, which is already established as a resource for teachers who want to try new ways of teaching. For efficient use of resources, technical, pedagogical and administrative support will be combined with the existing support for the Expermental classroom. The working group for the project shall be formed with representatives from the Division for Quality Enhancement and the Department of University IT Services (UIT).
