Reallocation of courses and programmes
Staff and education at the Department of Neuroscience have been reassigned to other departments of the Faculty of Medicine.
The principle for the placements was to keep research and teaching subjects together and place the utmost emphasis on continuity and maintaining a high quality of education. The receiving departments are Public Health and Health Caring Sciences, Immunology, Genetics and Pathology, Surgical Sciences, Women's and Children's Health, Medical Cell Biology and Medical Sciences.
In brief about the Neuroscience programme
- The Department of Neuroscience offered comprehensive training in eight programmes and independent courses.
- There will be no change in who teaches courses in the spring 2022 term.
- Changes in staffing on programmes and courses, should be made on a long-term basis.
- Staff members who contribute to the same programmes may be assigned to different departments from 1 January 2022.
- Long-term development of programmes should be done in consultation with the relevant programme committee.
- Long-term development of freestanding courses should be done in consultation with the Undergraduate and Master’s Education Committee at the Faculty of Medicine (GRUNK).
- The financial basis of individual researchers and research groups may, to a large extent, rest on training courses and programmes and cannot be changed without prior discussion.
What does this mean for the education?
In 2022, pragmatic solutions and dialogue between the departments involved are necessary.
- Information on courses can be obtained from past and present directors of studies, course directors and course administrators.
- Agreements and transfers of funds between the departments involved are needed.
- Adjustments are likely to be needed during the year.
Please note that only funding, teaching and responsibilities from the Department of Neuroscience have been reallocated, not from the other departments.
