Gender Mainstreaming

Integration of gender equality and equal opportunities

Uppsala University is an administrative authority governed by laws, regulations, and decisions made by the government and the parliament. Since 2016, all state higher education institutions, as well as the Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Jönköping, have been tasked with strengthening work on gender mainstreaming to contribute to achieving the government's gender equality policy goals.

On December 20, 2022, the rector approved a new plan for continued work on gender mainstreaming for the period 2023-2025. The plan specifies clear process goals and concrete measures to achieve the goals. The plan is also designed to meet the requirements for equality integration in the regulatory letter 2022 for universities and higher education institutions, which means that the higher education institutions must identify gender equality problems in the core business that they can contribute to solving.

The Gender Mainstreaming Plan will soon be available in English at the website Policies and regulations at Uppsala University.
