In the appointment of this professorship, significance will be assigned to research expertise, management expertise, and teaching expertise. When rank-ordering eligible applicants, emphasis will primarily be placed on research expertise and secondly on leadership and teaching expertise. Equal consideration will be given to the evaluation of all three assessment criteria. The assessment criteria will be weighted so that an applicant who is judged to be significantly more qualified in terms of leadership and teaching expertise than a slightly more skilled applicant in terms of research expertise can be ranked ahead of the latter.
Research expertise: In assessing research expertise, research quality will be the primary consideration. The scope of the research, in terms primarily of its depth and breadth, will also be taken into account. Research qualifications also include the level of independence in developing and conducting research projects, as well as contributing to the international research discussion through publication in international journals or other internationally available publications. In addition to broad and deep anchoring in business studies, emphasis must be placed on documented research breadth within the sub-areas of marketing. The international track record required will be assessed according to the nature and specific circumstances of the subject.
Research expertise must have been demonstrated through independent research contributions that both qualitatively and quantitatively considerably exceed that which is required for docent status.
The applicant must normally have been principal supervisor of at least one doctoral student up to and including the thesis defence, unless there are special grounds otherwise.
Management expertise are demonstrated through the ability to lead operations and staff, make decisions, take responsibility and motivate others and provide them with the prerequisites for effectively achieving common goals. Further examples of demonstrated skills include the ability to coordinate a group, foster commitment, encourage participation and create job satisfaction, as well as the ability to manage conflicts. The current position includes leading research groups in the various sub-areas of marketing. Teaching expertise will be evaluated as carefully as research expertise and management expertise. In assessing teaching expertise, teaching quality will be the primary consideration.
