Uppsala University is an international research university focused on the development of science and education. Our most important assets are all the individuals who with their curiosity and their dedication make Uppsala University one of Sweden’s most exciting work places. Uppsala University has 40,000 students, 7,000 employees and a turnover of SEK 6,5 billion.

The position is with the research group of Johan Elf and is part of a KAW funded project that aims to map the physical principles for how proteins search for specific sequences in the genome or transcriptome. The project is an interdisciplinary collaboration of researchers in biology, engineering and physics and you will work closely with several of these groups (http://elflab.icm.uu.se/kaw/agile).

Project description: We are recruiting a researcher interested in developing, building and using frontline optical methods for studying biophysics and intracellular kinetics at high spatial and temporal resolution. The position is focused on the optical techniques and you should be comfortable designing and building complicated microscopy set-ups. The project specifically aims at implementing novel methods, including the continued development of the MINFLUX system, for tracking individual florescent molecules on the µ-second time scale. Experience with biological applications is not required for this position.

We offer a stimulating interdisciplinary environment and you will interact closely with a competent team of engineers, physicists, programmers, microbiologist, chemists and molecular biologists solving puzzles related to central aspects of life at the molecular level. For more information about our research, please visit http://elflab.icm.uu.se/. The project is a collaboration with the Hell group in Göttingen.
