Why start an alumni association?
The activities of our alumni associations aim to bring together like-minded individuals and contribute to a sense of belonging and identity. Alumni who engage in alumni associations and contribute their time and experience are crucial to the success of the University. Many alumni from Uppsala University have a genuine interest in their Alma Mater, their department or faculty and are keen to support their activities.
The alumni associations become networks that can also contribute to the development of education and research through sharing experience and knowledge from the wider community. For example, alumni can participate in teaching and give inspiring lectures.
Alumni can help students to establish career contacts. They can share their knowledge of what is going on in the workplace and what will be needed in the future. Contact with current students also provides a great recruitment base for the alumni.
The activities provide new friendships and business relationships between people with similar academic backgrounds.
If there is currently no alumni association for those who studied a particular programme or for a particular University department or faculty, then you might consider starting one.
