Programmes
The programme information is entered in the University's education database Selma and used in the University's online catalogue.
Administrators at the departments enter the programme information into Selma. Thereafter, the Faculty administrators check and authorise the information. Some programmes are handled entirely by the faculty. The editors check the information entered and then proofread the programme texts. See instructions for the descriptive programme texts.
The work is divided into two parts:
- Programmes that will be open for international admission (with or without also being open in the national round)
- Programmes that will be open for national admission only
Selma's user guide provides detailed instructions for how to enter the programme texts. Below follows information about how the texts should be composed and presented on the web.
You can review the programme texts while working partly via Selma's own review function, partly through the online catalogue's review function of the programme pages. This might give you a better overview.
See the time frames for working with the programme texts. Prior to the work with the programme information, courses are offered in how to use Selma, as well as start-up meetings and a seminar where you can ask questions.
Programmes in English
Programmes in English must have an English translation. At Uppsala Univeristy we always use British English. Programmes that are only open for national admission do not need information in English. All programmes must always have a Swedish description, regardless of the language in which they are given.

Where is the information displayed?
The programme information is presented in the University's course and programme catalogue on the web:
- All courses and programmes; Swedish education catalogue
- International Master's programmes
- International Bachelor's programmes
Parts of the programme information from Selma are also displayed on other websites such as universityadmissions.se, mastersportal.com and studentum.se. The University does not produce a printed catalogue of all courses and programmes, but a brief description of the first-cycle (Bachelor's) programmes is published in the magazine Studier & studentliv (pdf, in Swedish) with high school students as the target group.
Programme image, student interview and videos
Images, links in the programme image, videos and interviews are handled by the editorial staff of the student department in Infoglue. Contact the editorial staff for help.
- The programme image should be a detail image, preferably a close-up (not a collage) of something that can be linked to the programme, so that it becomes an aesthetic complement to the text. No people should be in the image, but details (a hand for example) or silhouettes can occur. The image should not have a white background, and it should not contain text. Programmes with specialisations can either have the same image for all specialisations or different images for all specialisations.
Contact the editors for a discussion about image selection. The editors can provide images options to choose from, or the department can propose an image. - Each programme page should have a student interview with a portrait of the student. If an interview is missing or if you want to change the current interview, contact the editorial staff and suggest a new student to interview. The editorial staff will carry out the interview. A student interview is published on the web for a maximum of three years. An interview with an alumnus or employee can be published for a maximum of five years.
If the programme is given in English, the programme pages should have an interview on both the Swedish page and the English page, respectively. If there are several specialisations within the programme, they can either all have the same interview or all different interviews per specialisation. - There is space for a video on both the first page and under the Career tab. The video needs to be uploaded on Youtube, and then embedded in to a separate box on the programme page. The video needs to be subtitled in Swedish and/or English. The videos follow the same guidelines as images, a video with students will be published on the web for a maximum of three years. A video with alumni or employees will be published on the web for a maximum of five years.
- If the programme has documents that should be attached to the student's application to the programme - send these to the editors in word format. The editors make the application summary sheets into available forms as pdf:s and upload them to the programme page. Make sure all documents are up to date before each application period.
Hyperlinks on the programme pages
It is possible to include hyperlinks on the programme pages. However, it should be used sparingly so, so that the user does not need to leave the website if not needed. All programme information must be entered into Selma and duplicate information can not be published elsewhere on the University's websites. This also applies to joint programmes as far as possible.
- Hyperlinks can be made in the text. The hyperlinktext must be cllear and make sense out of context. Do not write "Read more" or "Here" as link text. Guidelines on how to make accessible hyperlinks (in Swedish only).
- A hyperlink to the programme syllabus (and study plan if available) is automatically generated on the programmes' start page and displayed in the black box.
- In the programme image, you can add hyperlinks. This option should be used sparingly so that the page does not become too cluttered. Contact the editors if a hyperlink is to be added to the image; this is done in the web tool Infoglue and not in Selma.
