Kryptering gör att man kan
- skicka krypterad e-post, oläsbar för andra än avsändaren och mottagarna
- kryptera dokument
- kryptera hårddiskar och USB-minnen
- signera dokument
- säkerställa avsändarens identitet
- säkerställa att information inte är ändrad
- göra information oläsbar för ej behörig
Digital signering
- Kontrollerar att avsändarens identitet är äkta
- Kontrollerar att innehållet inte är förändrat efter signeringen
Encrypted or digitally signed e-mail
An encrypted message ensures that only the intended recipient can read it. For more information, see how to encrypt e-mail.
Digitally signed e-mail makes it possible for the recipient to check that it definitely is you that sent the e-mail. It also facilitates for the recipient to send you encrypted e-mails.. For more information, see how to digitally sign e-mail.
Encrypting hard drives and USB sticks
- USB sticks and external hard drives usually come with encryption capabilities available
- Windows PCs have BitLocker installed, but it usually needs activation
- Macintosh/MacOS computers have filevault installed, but it usually needs activation
- Most Linux systems have encryption capabilities;
- Full-disk encryption (FDE), encrypting the block device before it is mounted on the system. FDE is usually included in the Linux distribution
- File-based encryption, where only a folder or file is encrypted using native filesystem features.
- Other operating systems may have encryption capabilities as well.
