Information security checklist
Do you know how the information in your department has been classified? Let information security assessments be part of your every day handling of information and IT. The Procedures for secure information management (UFV 2018/668) provide assistance.

Follow the Security and Safety Division's advice for a more secure every day life online:
1. Pay attention, think ahead, and use your common sense.
2. Before clicking on a link or opening a file - Do you know where it will lead you and what it will do? And if the sender is who it is claimed to be?
3. Watch out for social engineering, fraud attempts and phishing.
4. Make sure no one else has access to your password and change it if it gets disclosed.
5. Make sure that your computer and portable devices are kept up to date.
6. Assess information’s sensitivity before storing it on the ‘cloud'. Use of cloud services must always be proceeded by risk assessment.
7. Make sure that you have a backup! Find out about backup procedures in your department.
8. Install only the apps that you need and from a provider that you can trust.
9. Think about what you send by e-mail. It's no safer than sending a regular postcard.
10. Think about how you use public WiFi networks. These are shared by may users some of which can have bad intentions.
11. Don’t plug in USB sticks that you have received in conferences etc. to your computer.
