Report incidentsYou can report all forms of intrusion, attempted intrusion, unwelcome email, network misuse etc. that have anything to with Uppsala University to security@uu.se. This applies regardless of whether you are subjected to such incidents at the University or are an external party who suspects that someone at the University is engaged in activities that are affecting you.
Be sure to document incidents and secure evidence – save logs, emails, etc.

Secure deletion
Deleting your files and moving them to the Recycle Bin/Trash is not enough for secure deletion. For secure deletion that makes it impossible to recover files, the disk space where the files were stored needs to be overwritten. There are several programs you can use to help you do this. If you have a Mac, you can access a pre-installed program by opening the Trash and selecting ‘Secure Empty Trash’ from the Finder dropdown menu. You can also use a program called Ccleaner, which is available for both PC and Mac. The program functions by finding files that you may want to clean up. The standard version of the program is free.

Change of passwordTo further reduce the risk of an intruder revealing a password to the university's IT and information system, each user should continuously change their password within a specified time interval.
