In-service vehicles at the University
Ordinance on in-service vehicles
For state agencies in Sweden, there is an Ordinance (SFS 2009:1) on environmental and road safety requirements for government agency cars and car travel (in Swedish: förordning med miljö- och trafiksäkerhetskrav för bilar och bilresor). The Ordinance contains provisions relating to emissions, alcohol interlocks (alcolocks), anti-skid systems and collision protection. These provisions apply when passenger cars and light goods vehicles are purchased, leased and used in service at Uppsala University.
Guidelines for purchasing, leasing and use of in-service vehicles
If a department or unit, or the campus management, wishes to acquire a service vehicle it should consult the University’s guidelines. There are guideline regulating not only purchasing and leasing but also the use of in-service vehicles (in Swedish). Issues covered include, for example, driving log books, parking, insurance and annual reporting on fuel consumption. The guidelines provide support regarding the types of vehicle that may be purchased.
