Vesta - Secure Data

Vesta - Secure Storage and Analysis of Research Data

The service Vesta – Secure Storage and Analysis of Research Data gives you a secure storage for your sensitive research data, along with a virtual computer where you can process and analyze your data without exporting the data out of the secure storage. The service is situated in the University's data centers and fulfills the "KRT value" 332.

Scope of the service

  • Storage on encrypted hard drives, replicated to a secondary data center.
  • A personal virtual computer with Windows 10 with selected software packages for processing and analyzing data.
  • Secure login with two-factor authentication

Suitable for 

  • Research groups with sensitive research data, e.g. sensitive personal data or data with high confidentiality requirements.

Price

  • User fee for the personal virtual computer: 4 295 kr per year
  • Fee for secure storage: 4 695 kr per TB and year

The fees for the service are adjusted annually.

Ordering and cancelation

  • You apply for the service by sending an e-mail to itsupport@uu.se.
  • Supply your University ID (AKKA-ID) and the ID for any colleagues that you order access for.
  • If you need very large data storage (more than 10 TB) please state this.
  • If you no longer need the service you can cancel it one calendar month in advance by mailing IT Support. Any stored data must be exported or deleted before the service ends.

N.B: Vesta uses an app in your smart phone for two factor authentication. Instructions on how to install and use the app can be found att the web page https://konto.weblogin.uu.se/ (requires login) under the headline "Login with mobile – TOTP".

Delivery

  • You will get a reply by mail, normally within three working days telling you that you can activate your account in the Self Service Portal.
  • Supply your invoice reference and project code in the Self Service Portal, and confirm that you accept the Terms of use. Make sure to read the Terms carefully before accepting them.
  • If you have applied for any colleagues, they will also need to visit the Self Service Portal and supply the same information.
  • Normally you will be able to pick up your hardware key within three working days after your complete order is submitted. You need to provide a valid ID when getting your hardware key. When you have the key you can login to the service.

NB: In order to use the service you must accept the Terms of use.
