Regarding mobility to and from the United Kingdom
Following Brexit, the United Kingdom is no longer part of the Erasmus Programme. In brief, this means that:
- Uppsala University needs to enter into bilateral exchange agreements with individual higher education institutions in the UK.
- Students and staff who undertake exchanges between Sweden and the UK
- can no longer receive an Erasmus+ grant;
- may need to obtain a visa.
Uppsala University mobility initiatives
As of 31 May 2023, UU must enter into bilateral agreements in order to continue offering students exchanges at British universities. We already have bilateral agreements with several higher education institutions outside the EU, for example in Australia and the US. Such agreements enable students at UU to study free of charge at partner universities across the globe for one or two semesters. Note that the students who go on an exchange via these agreements are not entitled to Erasmus study grants.
