Radiation safety
In brief
In a contextual way, these pages are intended to help you understand your role and obligations regarding radiation safety at the university. Most information on these pages are currently in swedish but will later be translated to english.
Uppsala University is licensed, for purposes of education and research, to possess and use specific radiation producing machines and specified amounts of radioactive substances.
The licence is issued with provisions for control and accountability that must be met at all times.
Consequently, the license confers authority upon the University to approve, manage and control the receipt, use, transfer and return or disposal of radioactive substances and radiation producing machines.
A serious violation of University policies or security and safety, or a serious accident, could result in cancellation of the license. Therefore, the University management take violations of University policies regarding radiation safety very seriously.
