Funding - a key issue
When it comes to initiating a collaboration, money is often a key issue. The university's Innovation Partnership Office (UU Samverkan) can advise you on how your collaboration can best be funded to ultimately create the desired benefit.
The University has some ability to contribute funding for new collaborative projects aimed at creating societal benefit. These can take the form of project funds for conducting pre-studies with external players or for activities that support the formation of consortiums in preparation for research applications with external parties. The purpose of the University's collaboration funds is to improve projects’ capability of attracting external funding.
A highly appreciated funding opportunity is the university's Verification for Collaboration initiative (VFS in Swedish) from which you can apply for funding of up to SEK 300 000 to start a new collaborative venture with an external organisation. Learn more about VFS and how to apply. In support to the VFS funding, the UU Partnership Office (UU Samverkan) can occasionally give support to pilot studies for an amount up to 50,000 SEK in order to try out a cooperation project on a smaller scale.
The university's Innovation Partnership Office, also has good knowledge of external programmes and calls for proposals that fund collaboration on innovation between academia and the outside world. By working closely with the University’s Research Support, you can get the best possible advice about external funding.
One example is the call Collaborative projects for better health - a joint initiative of the strategic innovation programmes Swelife and Medtech4health. Regional contact persons for projects that seek and receive funding from Swelife and Medtech4health funding calls are available at the university's Innovation Partnership Office.
