Horizon Europe – EU:s programme for research and innovation
Horizon Europe, the European Commission’s research and innovation framework program, runs from 2021 to 2027 and has a budget of 95,5 billion euro.

The four sections of the framework program
Horizon Europe has three pillars, which include both basic and applied research. The program also has a horisontal section, which interconnect the three pillars and aims to broaden participation and disseminate excellence as well as reform and strengthen the European R&D system.
Pillar 2: Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness Includes calls for collaboration projects within six research areas. The pillar also holds the parts Missions, European Partnerships and Joint Research Centres.
Pillar 3: Innovative Europe Includes basic research, applied research and commercializing the research findings. The pillar holds European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), European Innovation Council (EIC) and European Innovation Ecosystems.
