Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg’s Memorial Fund
The Foundation primarily supports research in the fields of the humanities, learning and the social sciences. High-priority projects include new research domains and research of an interdisciplinary nature, preferably specialising in information technology and digital media. Only projects that are initiated by researchers and that are of the highest international standard can be applied for.
Please read the Foundation’s guidelines for project grants to determine if your project falls within the Foundation’s frameworks and purposes of the announcement.
According to Foundation rules, project applications to MAW are to undergo an internal prioritisation at Uppsala University. Prioritisation is based on a pre-application, which is to be signed by the relevant head of department, who then certifies that the department acknowledges and can accept the terms and conditions of a Wallenberg grant. Pre-applications provide the basis for evaluation and prioritising.
The pre-application for internal prioritisation within Uppsala University is to be submitted no later than 17 February 2020.
Application to the Foundation for prioritised applications is due no later than 1 April 2020.
The pre-application can be written in Swedish or English and should contain the following:
- Signed certification for the pre-application by the relevant head of department (principal applicant department) and scanned into a PDF.
- Summary of the application (max. 2 A4 pages). This should contain:
- a project plan with a clear description of the purpose and objectives,
- timetable and implementation.
The project should have a consistent scholarly question to be addressed. Describe how skills of the principal applicant and any fellow applicant contribute to the project.
Combine documents 1 and 2 into a single PDF file and email:
Humanities and Social Sciences and Medicine and Pharmacy: Oddný Ósk Sverrisdóttir
Science and Technology: Cecilia Alsmark
Note that the pre-application is only a basis for the internal prioritising the Foundation requests and is not a final version of your application.
