How are dissertations affected by Covid-19?
Our goal is to carry out dissertations in accordance with current regulations and the recommendations of the Public Health Agency. Should it be necessary to close the University premises completely, we will get back with further information on whether dissertations can be carried out or need to be postponed.
Can a dissertation be carried out remotely?
If necessary, a dissertation can be partly carried out remotely.
- The doctoral student and the chairperson must attend physically, but the opponent and the examining board can participate in whole or in part via video link.
- As dissertations are public, an audience must always be given the opportunity to attend physically, but should also be given the opportunity to participate remotely.
Who is responsible for the costs if a dissertation has to be postponed?
The financial responsibility for any postponed dissertations and associated costs lies with the department where the doctoral student is employed.
Information is continuously provided to concerned doctoral students and institutions.
