Study Plans
Third-cycle education is built upon two study plans, a general study plan for the research subject and an individual study plan for each individual PhD student.
General Syllabi
There is a general syllabus for each research subject at the Faculty of Educational Sciences:

Individual Study Plan
Every doctoral student shall have an individual study plan. This must state what research work the doctoral student intends to undertake during the year for which the plan applies, and what has already been completed. The individual study plans are the most important instrument for promoting a structured education. If, for one reason or another, the plan cannot be kept, the doctoral student must inform his/her main supervisor as soon as possible. Failure to follow the study plan can lead to loss of resources, ie. the right to renewed student support, supervision, workplace, etc. The main supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the doctoral student's study plan is up-to-date and that it is renewed at least once a year.
There is also an obligation for both the supervisor and the doctoral student to report deviations in the individual study plan to the head of department or equivalent:
- in the event that the deviation is significant, the head of department/equivalent must request both the doctoral student and the supervisor to comment in writing.
- in the event that the doctoral student or supervisor has to a significant extent breached his or her obligations according to the study plan, the head of department/equivalent shall propose to the faculty board to take measures
- a request to regain supervision and other resources must be submitted to the head of department/equivalent, who submits the matter to the faculty board together with his or her own opinion.
The study plan must be signed by the doctoral student, the main supervisor and the head of department. The individual study plans must be followed up and revised by the Faculty Board at least once a year. Previously admitted students at the doctoral level can reuse the Word document with last year's plan, in applicable parts amended and supplemented as needed. Remember to save the completed individual study plan so that you can reuse it next year.
