Merits/Educational Development
Many who complete a licentiate or doctoral degree continue to be active in teaching roles within the university. It is therefore valuable both for you as a doctoral student and for the university if you can gain teaching experience already during your doctoral studies. Many doctoral students also teach to a greater or lesser extent. There is room within doctoral student employment for up to 20% of other activities/departmental duties, including teaching. However, it is not a right and it happens that doctoral students absolutely do not want to teach.
To be allowed to teach as a doctoral student, you must have completed pedagogical training relevant to university-level teaching. The university therefore offers a higher education pedagogical course corresponding to five weeks of full-time work. You can credit the course within the framework of your doctoral education or be granted an extension for the corresponding period. A combination of these options may also possible.
The unit for quality development and university pedagogy also has other courses and opportunities that you can make use of to develop your pedagogy.
